Dangote refinery gets commissioning date
After over 4 years of delay, the Dangote Oil Refinery will finally be commissioned on January 24, 2023.
The refinery was initially scheduled to become operational in 2018 will be commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The refinery, which is worth $14 billion, will produce 650,000 barrels of crude daily, making it the largest in Africa. According to reports, the Dangote Refinery has began to receive clients from Africa and also western countries.
We will rather purchase from the Dangote Refinery due to the proximity of the refinery to Ghana and other neighbours,” the Ghanaian government had stated five years ago.
However, operations are still expected to commence in March as earlier stated by the company.
In January, 2022, Aliko Dangote, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Dangote Group had said the refinery would begin processing crude by the third quarter of 2022.
However, in what appears to be a change of stance, Dangote, in April 2022 said his oil refinery will be commissioned before the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
